Knitter : Arne & Carlos

Yeah, who didn't know these knitters?

(c) from ArneCarlos blog
I first find Arne and Carlos when i browsed knitting books and find their book, Knitted Dolls. With their doll version of faces as the front cover! (And i love that i had a copy of this book for my knitting's book collection :D )

I suddenly intrigued to find some more about them. And really strange that this time wikipedia didn't help much.

But, what fascinating me is if you search their name at google images, you can see their wonderful works. Exclusive wearable all in intarsia/stranded knitting!

From their blog, you can see they held a mini summer workshop in Norway. Looks like it became annual too.

You can follow them at their Facebook Page. And see their works at their Ravelry page.

Rajut Free Knitting pattern : Baby Pom-pom Fisherman's Hat

I only tested this pattern once - and it while i wrote it! So please inform me if you find any errata to add :)

This pattern is so simple, even it made me feel guilty to write it, because i wrote the introduction longer than the pattern itself.

Since the gauge measured in stst and we knit in fisherman's rib, i consider that the gauge i wrote not so important for the pattern. I think it will safer to adjust your gauge to the finished size.

Needle             = 5.5 mm SPN
Yarn sugested  = about 80 gr of any lightweight yarn that suitable for the needle. (chunky)
- i used JPS yarn from Poyeng -
Gauge              = 10 cm = 15 sts/22 rows (in stst)
Finished size    = (before folding) 8 inches x 14 inches
 -baby up to 6 months old size after you fold it into a hat-

Fisherman's rib pattern=
Row 1 = [K1,P1] repeat
Row 2 = [K1, YO, Sl1] repeat
Row 3 = [(K2Tog on YO & slip st), YO, Sl1] repeat
Row 4 = Row 3
Repeat last row to end
note = Before you BO, do [(K2Tog on YO & slip st), P1] for 1 row

Picot edging =
[CO 3 sts with any simplest method you know, BO 9 sts, move remain 1 sts from Right Needle to Left Needle] repeat

Pattern =
  • CO = 26 sts (If you want to change the cast on, do it in multiple of two)
  • Do fisherman's rib pattern until 14 inches
  • BO
  • Fold the piece, seam both side.
  • Pick up all stitch along the new hat edge, do picot edging loosely.
  • Add big pom-pom at both top edging.

for the mitten, you can find the free knitting pattern at Spud&Chloe blog
I pick the pattern for the socks from Kristin Spurkland's book

* feel free to comment, you may use this pattern for free, but please read the intellectual property at this blog. thank you :)

Rajut Free Knitting pattern : Boy Baby Booties

Another free knitting pattern to share!!

It was been a while since i knit a baby booties from new free pattern.
With a little browse at (as usual) ravelry, i decided to try this pattern, because i like the result.

free knitting pattern = Simple Baby Booties by Hilde V
material = SP Poyeng by poyenghobby.com (SP 05 and SP 21)
needle = 3.5 mm SPN

In the end, i resized the pattern because i found the result was too big for the size i want.
Change i made from the pattern =
  • CO = 30 sts (reduce 10 sts)
  • start the front part after 11 garter ridges
  • 8 sts on front part (reduce 2 sts)
  • end the front part after 8 garter ridges
  • end the alternate color after 7 garter ridges
  • delete the eyelet hole part

Rajut Free Knitting Pattern : Legwarmer

A nice legwarmer to protect you from the chill!!
I really want to knit one for myself since a long-long time ago.. but time was such a very expensive goods!

Free Pattern used = Alpaca Sox Legwarmers
needle used = 4 mm
yarn i used = Ice Yarns soft merino (discontinued) - 80% merino wool, 20% polyamide - 4 x (50gr/135m)

* I did a little change for the Double Decrease (DD) part. I used the DD that made the stitch centered in the middle (Sl2 knitwise, K1, PSSO)
